About The Task Force
"Big Picture"
In an era defined by instability, the most dangerous threats rarely emerge from conventional battlefields or clearly defined front lines. They take shape in the gaps between governments, within insurgent movements, across criminal networks, and through hostile actors who exploit disorder to achieve strategic objectives without ever presenting themselves as a traditional military force. These environments demand more than mass and firepower alone. They demand disciplined formations capable of operating with speed, precision, and sound judgment in places where larger conventional forces are either too slow, too visible, or too limited in flexibility to respond effectively.
Formed in 2025, Task Force 28 was established to meet that challenge. As a joint special operations task force, it was created to identify, disrupt, and neutralize emerging threats before they can mature into wider regional instability or strategic crisis. Built around a unified operational command, the task force brings together elite light infantry, special operations enablers, and dedicated aviation support into a single force capable of planning, preparing, and executing operations across a broad range of environments. Whether conducting direct action, preparing the battlefield, supporting partner forces, or projecting combat power into denied territory, Task Force 28 exists to deliver timely, disciplined, and decisive action where it matters most.
At the heart of the task force is the 75th Ranger Regiment, which serves as the primary fighting force and main operational effort of the organization. The Regiment represents the core of Task Force 28’s combat capability and stands as the standard-bearing element for readiness, aggression, discipline, and mission execution. Supporting the Regiment is the 6th Special Forces Group, whose role is centered on mission preparation, intelligence, unconventional problem-solving, and increasing the task force’s ability to understand and shape the operational environment before decisive action is taken. The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment provides the air mobility, insertion capability, and aviation support required to move the force, sustain operational reach, and enable missions that would otherwise be impossible. Together, these elements form a task force designed not only to fight, but to fight with purpose, preparation, and precision.
Task Force 28 is built on the belief that capability is not created by numbers alone, but by standards, trust, and shared commitment. The organization is intended to reflect a serious and professional military environment, but never at the expense of the people who make it possible. Discipline, accountability, and performance are expected from every member, regardless of rank or assignment, yet those expectations exist alongside a culture that values respect, camaraderie, and long-term development. The goal is not simply to create a force that looks professional from the outside, but one that is strong because its members believe in the organization, understand its purpose, and are committed to building something greater than themselves.
For that reason, Task Force 28 is more than a collection of units under a single banner. It is a deliberately structured organization built to develop its members as individuals while preparing them to serve as part of a disciplined combat formation. Training is designed to produce personnel who are not only tactically capable, but dependable, adaptable, and able to contribute meaningfully to a team. Leadership is expected to be earned through competence, presence, and responsibility. Every school, selection, and assignment exists to support a larger purpose: building a force that can be trusted to operate with professionalism under pressure and with consistency over time.
As the organization continues to grow, Task Force 28 remains focused on developing a complete and sustainable operational framework rooted in realism, structure, and shared standards. From initial entry training and assessment to advanced schools and operational employment, the task force is being built to provide clear progression, purposeful training, and a command climate that rewards commitment and maturity. The end state is a unit that is not only operationally capable, but cohesive, credible, and built to endure.
Task Force 28 exists to bring together disciplined people, develop them through meaningful standards, and employ them as part of a professional special operations task force capable of operating across complex and hostile environments. Its mission is grounded in readiness, precision, and unity of effort, but its strength ultimately comes from the people within it. More than anything else, Task Force 28 is an organization built on the idea that serious standards and genuine camaraderie do not stand in opposition to one another—they are what make a force worth being a part of.
